Overhead Volleys - Take the ball out of the air to put it away!
There's very little more exhilarating in tennis than sweetly striking an overhead shot, but it's far from being an easy skill - that's why this week we focus teaching your players how to take the ball out of the air and win the point!
Designed for groups large and small, this session teaches sharpness at the net and encourages players to be more aggressive with their footwork by closing down the ball at the net.
To develop the overhead this session has 4 progressive practices, designed to teach players to loosen their grip as they spot high balls and resist the temptation to blindly swat the ball.
Top Tip:
Players should always follow their volley and be prepared for the return shot.

What you say: Sportplan's an important tool for me when planning my sessions. There's a lot of very helpful tips/ideas/skills that I can learn and teach to my players.
Both players are rallying in the service box, however Red 1 must 1/2 volley every shot back to Blue 1. After ten shots, continue the volley but Blue 1 must then 1/2 volley.
Coaching Points
The 1/2 volleyer must try to keep low to the ground.
With more advanced players, Blue 1 could vary the depth and width of each ball.
